Transforming Capitalist Ruins
Upon further experimentation and research, it is clear that in order to create a project in a post capitalist society, there should be an active eradication of capitalism rather than passively occupying a post capitalist wasteland. There is greater opportunity to further banish capitalism through appropriation of industrial spaces to build daydreaming spaces than starting from scratch in a barren landscape. Spaces that used to be concerned with labor, productivity, and commerce will be retrofitted to foster human creativity. The takeover of capitalist spaces will occur through parasitic and infiltrative modifications to pre-existing structures. Left over relics and debris will be given new purpose. Radical re-defining of spaces and objects will give rise to a new city where creativity, self-expression, and community will flourish without the constraints of capitalism.
